The deal is a six year contract between co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker with ViacomCBS’s MTV Entertainment Studios, valued at $900 million.
Chris McCarthy, President and CEO, said “For the past 25 years, multiple generations of fans have grown up enchanted by the outlandishly funny and subversive world that Matt and Trey have created”
“As part of our expansive new deal, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with them for many more seasons of South Park on Comedy Central and many more made-for-streaming South Park exclusive events on Paramount+.”
“To be halfway done with South Park is a great accomplishment-we can’t lie,” joked Stone and Parker. “Comedy Central has been our home for 25 years and we’re really happy that they’ve made a commitment to us for the next 75 years.”
“Matt and Trey are world-class creatives who brilliantly use their outrageous humour to skewer the absurdities of our culture,” continued McCarthy. “And we are excited to expand and deepen our long relationship with them to help fuel Paramount+ and Comedy Central.”
Just in case Stone and Parker were not busy enough, they’ve also teamed up with Kendrick Lamar to make a live-action comedy for Paramount Pictures.
With the South Park train only speeding up, it looks like fans will always have new content to be excited about.
Hopefully, COVID-19 won’t be so relevant in future seasons…
