One of the greatest superhero video games of all time, Marvel’s Spider-Man is already pretty fantastic on its own merits – but now we’re getting teased with some Fantastic Four related content about to hit.

As IGN reports, Marvel creative exec Ryan Penagos jumped into the livestream that kicked off the comic creators’ ‘Fantastic Four Week’ and dropped a big hint that the classic hero team would be making their way to the PS4 title in some way, shape or form “soon”.

“Something ‘fantastic’ is coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man real soon,” IGN quotes. “I can’t tell you anything more right now, but you’ll want to keep an eye out for this. It’s going to be amazing and fantastic.”

No hints so far as to what exactly this might entail, and the game’s developers Insomniac are keeping hush, merely pointing to a tweet by Marvel asking fans to guess what the surprise might be.

While we’d love to see a full DLC story tapping into Spider-Man’s rich history with the team, including his stints as a member, it’s easier to imagine that they might just bring some of his Fantastic Four costumes to the game instead.

Still, if those costumes include the glorious bag-headed variation that Spidey was forced to wear when he didn’t have access to his own spider-duds, we’ll be happy – and an appearance by his glorious white-and-black ‘Future Foundation’ costume above wouldn’t go astray, either.

The game already includes almost 40 different suits – 10 of which have some as DLC – so Insomniac definitely has a penchant for adding in as many variations of Spider-Man as it can.

If we’re throwing other Marvel franchises into the mix, let’s get some X-Men and Avengers action going too – after all, Spider-Man has teamed up with or been a member of just about every Marvel team there is, so they’d all slot in very nicely.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel and Insomniac are planning to bring to the table.
