The Sydney-based photographer will be bringing her unique, walk-in camera obscuras to the Stills Gallery, presenting a new series set in various notable artist studios and residences.

Since 2013, Robyn Stacey has been transforming rooms, masking windows to leave just a ray of light then projecting the view outside onto the room’s interiors, but upside down and in reverse. Th result is the opposite of a shadow, casting trees, clouds and buildings onto the room.

“It’s like being in your own private movie”, says Stacey.

For the upcoming series, notable artist studios and residences have been used including Rose Seidler House in Sydney, Hans Heysen’s painting studio in Adelaide, Wendy Whiteley’s home at Lavender Bay and Yvonne and Arthur Boyd’s residence at Bundanon.

Robyn Stacey’s exhibition will run from October 6 to November 5 at the Stills Gallery, Paddington.
