Life just isn’t the same without a new season of Stranger Things releasing on Netflix. And now according to its director, the new season is about to receive a release date.
And while every new season of the dark and twisted series is always welcomed, the end of season three left all of at the top of a very, very tall cliff.
In a new interview with Variety, the show’s director, Shawn Levy said, “To state the incredibly obvious, it’s been way, way, way, way too long, and it’s coming.”
Levy also continued to state that the pandemic has played a huge part in delaying the show – as we all suspected, not only that, it seems like they took a ‘go big or go home’ approach to shooting.
He said, “The delay is due in large measure to COVID and the pace at which we have to work to do so safely, but it also happens to be the season that we chose to go much bigger. It’s the scale of this season and the multi-settings of Season 4.”
Levy also elaborated on the season’s shooting locations, revealing that they actually began working on the show before the world came to a screeching halt.
“I shot in Lithuania right before the pandemic. We have filmed in Georgia, Lithuania and New Mexico, so suffice to say Season 4 is sprawling. It’s visually and narratively very ambitious, much more ambitious than the prior three seasons,” said Levy.

Stranger Things season 4 still doesn’t have a release date, but you can’t rush a genius. On that, Levy concluded, “It’s coming soon enough. And as for when exactly that will be announced — quite soon.”
