A new Miami-themed diner has opened up in Sydney and it’s an art deco haven.

Sunset Diner is located just a few blocks away from Avalon Beach. It is the brainchild of Ben Varela, who has previously cut his teeth at Sydney institutions The Collaroy and Bistro Moncur. The menu largely consists of quintessentially American goods. Think big juicy burgers, griddle dogs and saccharine ice-cream sundaes.

It’s not all greasy goodness, they’ve got your health nuts covered. So if you’ve got one of those mates that refuses to indulge or has a “gluten intolerance”, they’ll be able to chow down on one of the many delicious salads. We are in the Northern Beaches after all.

Enough about the food, let’s talk aesthetics. Isn’t this the dreamiest looking joint ever. It’s what I envisioned Miami would be like before realising that South Beach is just America’s answer to Surfers Paradise. We’re seriously swooning over the decor. What can I say? I’m weak for millennial pink and I want every moment of my life to feel like a scene from The Birdcage.

Also, we’re wigging out over how much this place reminds us of ‘Pops’ beloved diner in Riverdale. I can almost feel Cheryl Blossom’s cold shoulder from here.
