The Sydney Dance Company is set to tear into their 2018 season in a big way with the world premiere of ab [intra], a collaborative creation from choreographer Rafael Bonachela and composer Nick Wales.
ab [intra] is the newest creation from the highly-acclaimed Spanish-born choreographer Rafael Bonachela, who celebrates his tenth year as the Artistic Director of the Sydney Dance Company in 2018.
This stunning new performance gives a rare chance for audiences to witness the sheer athleticism and virtuosity of some of Australia’s finest Helpmann Award winning contemporary dancers, as they deliver a vivid journey into the extremes of human nature.
Featuring a brand-new electronic and contemporary classical music commission by Nick Wales, ab [intra] is brought to us by the same creative team that delivered 2017’s Ocho, which debuted as part of the double-bill Orb, alongside Taiwanese choreographer, Cheng Tsung-lung’s work, Full Moon.
This is a very rare experience for Australian audiences to witness this visceral performance, allowing them to undergo a truly raw, emotional experience, as they are transformed by the skill and majesty of 17 of Australia’s best dancers.
ab [intra] is set to take over the Roslyn Packer Theatre from May 14th – 26th, before moving to Melbourne, and then onward to an extensive regional tour. Check out the Sydney Dance Company’s website for more information.
