Christmas Day can be a dismal affair for those with nowhere to go. There is a sea of sharehouse dwellers residing in this gorgeous city without plans for this festive holiday. Which is fine, It’s not for everyone. You don’t need to celebrate Christmas on your couch, eating crisps and living in a Colin Firth Christmas movie haze. There are a bunch of restaurants and cafés all around Sydney that’ll make sure you celebrate this silly season with a belly full of food. Here are some of the fine pickings:

Coffee Tea & Me

Bondi, Redfern, Potts Point, Waterloo, Marrickville

Coffee Tea & Me has got all your brekky needs covered. The hole-in-the-wall institution serves fresh-as-hell bagels, Campos coffee and a selection of divine sweets and treats. We recommend the pistachio finger.

Caffe Cino

Sydney CBD

If you find yourself stranded in George Street on Christmas Day, I’m so sorry. At least you’ll be able to head to Caffe Cino in The Hilton for a warm pick-me-up. But also run, run from that capitalist hellhole as fast as you can.

Munich Brauhaus

The Rocks
Hot chips, schnitzel and beer coming out the wazoo. What more could I possibly say?

The Bavarian Bondi Beach

Bondi Beach
See Above.

Meet Mica

Surry Hills
Head to Meet Mica for a gorgeous Japanese-fusion breakfast. It was featured in the Good Food Guides Top 20 Cafes. So you know you won’t be disappointed.

Chatkazz

Harris Park and Bella Vista

I’m not exaggerating when I say that Chatkazz is probably the best vegetarian Indian food in Sydney. I’m also not lying when I say my family is not touching a single cooking instrument this Christmas and is instead opting for a godly takeaway feast from this fantastic establishment. They also offer a massive selection of vegan sweets and treats so you’ve got no reason not to celebrate here.

Vecino

Canterbury
Vecino is a Mexican-Korean fusion restaurant in Canterbury, a sentence I never thought I’d say. But hey, don’t knock it till you try it. It’s open from 6 am to 10 pm.

Alibi Bar and Dining

Potts Point
This vegan restaurant and bar located right next to Woolloomooloo’s gorgeous wharf has all your plant-based (and cocktail!) needs covered.

If none of these establishments tickle your fancy then check out Time Out‘s full list of eateries open this Chrimbo. Also, remember to treat the hospitality staff with respect because no one wants to spend their holiday in the company of gronks.
