A new baby giraffe has arrived at Taronga zoo, with mummy giraffe in tow, and that’s just the kind of light and fluffy news we need.

As the doom and gloom continues around the world, take a few minutes to just feast your eyes on this perfect, little giraffe as it parades around Taronga Zoo with its mother closely following.

If you thought that a talk giraffe was majestic, cute, and maybe a little bit clumsy, you haven’t seen anything like it until you spot a baby giraffe trying to keep up with the adults.

Only six months old, Ebo and her mother Kito arrived in time to celebrate the re-opening of Taronga Zoo that has been previously shut due to COVID-19, and boy-oh-boy are they adorable.

Kito and young Ebo made their journey to Taronga zoo after originally being held at Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Now, they’re all together with Taronga’s main crew, Jimiyu and Zarafa.

Their new home is the recently renovated giraffe exhibit that has been extended to allow three times as much space as before, so that the long-necked creatures can get their morning jog on.

Keen to see the two newest members, or to at least feast your eyes on a bit of cuteness? Taronga Zoo reopens today, Monday, June 1st, where the zoo is taking extra hygienic measures such as extra sanitising stations, additional cleaning, and signs to encourage visitors to socially distance themselves.

These new additions will mark the first time in nearly twenty years that visitors to Taronga will be able to see a giraffe calf, too, so you won’t want to miss out.

Giraffes not tickling your fancy? The zoo will also be hosting keeper talks via TarongaTV, and will have their ‘Free Flight Bird Show’ and ‘Seals For The Wild’ attractions operating with a reduced audience.
