A classic tale told in a modern way, the new Australian Star Original Series The Artful Dodger hits Disney+ exclusively on November 29th. But you can be the first to see exclusive footage at a special event in Sydney in celebration of the release of The Artful Dodger featuring live music from indie kings The Rions. The Artful Dodger might be a story you think you know, but in the new Australian Star Original Series, your favourite characters return in a brand new tale that’s all about reinvention, love, betrayal and redemption.
Set in Australia in the 1850s, we meet Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger himself, in the colony of Port Victory. Against a slamming Australian rock soundtrack, we watch Jack in his new life as a surgeon, but it’s not long before the pick pocketing past catches up with him.
When his former teacher Fagin returns, Jack is faced with a difficult question about his loyalty to the people around him and his commitment to keep his past where it belongs. Throw in an unlikely love match with Lady Belle, the Governor’s daughter, and you’ve got a class clash for the ages.
The Artful Dodger stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Pistol, The Queen’s Gambit) as Jack Dawkins; David Thewlis (Landscapers, Fargo) as Fagin; and Maia Mitchell (Good Trouble, The Fosters) as Lady Belle Fox. The trio are matched by unbeatable Aussie talent including Damon Herriman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Miranda Tapsell (Top End Wedding), Tim Minchin (Upright), and Susie Porter (Wentworth).
The show will land exclusively on Disney+ in Australia on November 29th, and to celebrate the occasion we are giving you the chance to attend the launch in Sydney on the same night.
The event will include exclusive footage, a Live Q&A with Special Guests and a live performance by The Rions.
