If the thought of watching Home Alone 2 or Elf for the 200th time this Christmas leaves you feeling weary, Stan has you covered.

Original film Christmas Ransom started filming earlier this month in Homebush, NSW, and it sounds like ideal festive viewing.

When beloved toy store Harrington and Sons is hijacked on Christmas Eve by a pair of bumbling criminals, it’s up to a pair of shoplifting kids and a heavily pregnant security officer to save Christmas for everyone.

The film features acclaimed comedian Matt Okine and Logie Award-winner Miranda Tapsell, but there’s another fascinating member of the cast.

As revealed on the Matt & Alex All Day Breakfast show this week, Matty J – yes, The Bachelor‘s Matty J – will be appearing in Christmas Ransom. It will be the reality TV star’s first feature film role.

One of the more popular The Bachelor contestants, Matty J appeared on the show in 2017, finding love with laura Byrne. Five years on, the couple are still together, with two daughters, Marlie-Mae (born June 20th, 2019) and Lola (born February 4th, 2021).

“The chemistry Laura and I have, it hits me every time we’re together. When I’m with her it feels so natural and I never want our dates to end. I knew she could be right for me the day after our first date – I simply couldn’t fault it,” Matty once said about his blossoming romance.

“Our Stan Original Christmas films have quickly become a beloved staple of our annual lineup, following the success of A Sunburnt Christmas and Christmas on the Farm,” Stan chief content officer Cailah Scobie said.

“We are elated to again be working with the talented team at Every Cloud Productions, the brilliant writing team of Elliot Vella, Gretel Vella and Timothy Walker and such a fantastic cast to bring a fun and heartfelt tale to our screens this holiday season.”

So keep an eye out for Christmas Ransom – and Matty J’s appearance – hitting Stan in December.
