Fortnite have been copping lawsuits out the Wazoo recently.

Earlier this month, New York rapper 2 Milly filed a lawsuit against the game, claiming that the game ganked his famous “Milly Rock” move and used it under the name “Swipe It”.

Yesterday Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro filed a lawsuit against Epic Games for emulating the “Carlton Dance”. TMZ reported that the actor’s attorney claims that Epic did not seek permission to use the dance, or offer compensation for selling the “emote”.

The latest celebrity to take action against Epic games in Russell Horning aka Backpack Kid. Horning is claiming ownership of the dance move “Flossing”. The Backpack Kid gained global notoriety in 2017 after Horning appeared on SNL with Katy Perry.

According to TMZ, Backpack Kid’s mother has filed the latest lawsuit on behalf of the sixteen-year-old. In an old interview with the website, Horning shared “It’s not that big of a deal, I’m just glad it’s in the game.”

Horning is also suing 2K Sports, claiming that NBA 2K also stole his dance.

It’s a bit of a legal quagmire for the three performers involved. None of them own the copyright to their dance moves, and it’s impossible to claim ownership over single dance moves. So who knows how this will resolve itself? All we know is that it’s the most 2018 way to end 2018.
