It’s almost Grand Final Day in Australia with the Dogs and Demons set to fight it out tomorrow, September 25th.

With Melbourne still in lockdown and with the city losing its traditional final to Perth due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there aren’t a lot of reasons to be cheerful ahead of this weekend.

That’s where we come in: we’ve compiled a list of the best places around Melbourne to order food from for tomorrow’s big game, so your at-home watching experience feels a bit better. Put Uber Eats away for a change!

Attica

Attica is back for a limited period only just in time for the Grand Final. Pretend it’s the Super Bowl instead with American style food, including the Nacho Footy Loaf, only available across this weekend. The loaf is filled with beef and black bean chilli, lashings of sour cream, spicy jalapeños, and lots more. Trust us, it’s a feast. They say it serves two as a main but could easily accommodate four as a snack for $85.

Meatsmith

Spring is starting to bring the sunshine in Melbourne so you may as well pretend you’ve got a bbq going. Meatsmith’s massive BBQ Box contains some beautiful cuts of short ribs, loin chops, Luganega sausage, plus their own home-made mustard and chimichurri. It’s available for both pick-up and delivery.

Supernormal

What a glorious banquet this is. The Asian-fusion restaurant have you covered for the Grand Final with this packed eight-dish menu providing a variety of treats. Wagyu beef buns and veggie dumplings. Lobster rolls and chocolate & peanut butter mousse. There’s even 4 organic lagers and a bottle of 2020 Pinot Noir to wash it all down. Delivery is available across VIC.

Estelle

Another stacked BBQ Box, Estelle’s serves 2 for $120 but it’ll be worth it. The grand centrepiece is a 500g dry-aged rib-eye, with sausages, side salads, and sauces to back it up. Keep it classically Aussie with a sweet pavlova for dessert, while booze can be added on for extra. Pick-up is available within 10km of the joint in Northcote.

Stokehouse

A surf and turf BBQ Box that might genuinely distract you from the footy on the TV. There’s king prawns, calamari, pork neck, Wagyu beef, even octopus (from Fremantle if you’re looking for a WA connection to mark the final). It’s available for pick-up from Stokehouse in St Kilda but delivery is also available within 10km on Saturday.

Builders Arms Hotel

Keep it real with this proper meaty serving. The Dusty Martin of the meal is the slow roasted Boston Butt, with apple mustard and fermented chilli sauce on hand for dipping purposes. There’s also a potato salad and prawn cocktail roll to keep the Butt company. The Finish at Home Football Feast serves 2 for $120 and can be picked up in Fitzroy all weekend (also available for delivery on Providoor).
