Stuck on where to watch the AFL grand final on Saturday? Reckon it’s time to branch out from sitting on the couch all day? We’ve got you covered. Here are the best places to watch the big game in each capital city.

Sydney – Cathy Freeman Park

You’ll want to get amongst the Giants faithful if you’re in Sydney on grand final day. Head down to Cathy Freeman Park (part of the Sydney Olympic Park complex) to catch the big dance on the big screen. It’s the official site for Giants members, and there will be food trucks, inflatables and GWS fans aplenty.

Melbourne – Federation Square

If you aren’t planning on going to the MCG, you can’t beat Federation Square as a place to watch the game. Each year, the iconic city landmark shows the AFL grand final on the big screen, with a live broadcast and food trucks on site. Best of all, the event is completely free.

Canberra – Norton Road Wines

Canberra is the second home of The Giants, so the nation’s capital will be buzzing on AFL grand final day. The serenity at Norton Road Wines’ estate is unmatched, plus there’ll be three meat platters and a big screen. Curl up with a local wine and bring on the footy.

Brisbane – The Story Bridge Hotel

The Lions’ bumper 2019 season has ensured that AFL is alive and well in Brisvegas. Though the local team won’t be playing, The Story Bridge Hotel is Brisbane’s premiere venue for watching AFL. Nothing beats a pub feed, and the multiple screens at the venue mean you won’t miss a moment of the action.

Adelaide – Coopers Alehouse

The 2.5m 4k screen at Coopers is built for watching live AFL. For $69, you get siren to siren food and selected drinks on game day, and there will be pre game competitions and prize draws from 12pm.

Hobart – Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania

The Apple Isle loves a bit of footy, and the big dance is playing live and loud on the big screen at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania. Better still, they’re serving free James Boags from the first bounce until the first goal scored.

Perth – Optus Stadium

Opened just last year, Optus Stadium is the perfect place to catch the AFL grand final in Perth. With a buffet lunch, photo booth and tips from Sam Newman and Lee Spurr, this event has all the makings of a great grand final day. Be sure to book in advance though!

Darwin – The Precinct Tavern

You can’t go past The Precinct in Darwin. There’ll be a big screen on the lawn with plenty of room to kick back and enjoy a cold beer (or five). The pub is also spitting distance from the beautiful Darwin waterfront.
