Adrian Portelli – the man who was accused of bidding on The Block winners Omar and Oz’s in an attempt to drive up the price – has purchased Sharon and Ankur’s house and says he plans to give it away for free.

Omar and Oz walked away with the biggest win in The Block’s history this week, they pocketed $1,686,666.66, including their $100,000 in prize money for winning. The Block houses have a reserve, and contestants take home the gap between the reserve price and the selling price.

Omar and Oz’s house was the first at auction, and it sold for $5.666,666 million, the next closest house in price was Rachel and Ryan’s, which sold for $4.2 million – over $1.4 million less.

Omar and Oz’s triumph has been overshadowed by speculation that they have a personal relationship with one of the men, Adrian Portelli, who was locked in a bidding war for their property.

Although Omar and Oz’s house sold to Danny Wallis, he battled two other fellow bidders who drew up the price. One of those bidders was multi-millionaire Adrian.

Adrian has since defended himself against “dummy-bidder” claims, and today, he put his money where his mouth is.

“Well this is going to rustle some feathers… Someone’s winning one of The Block houses! A lot of Australia doubted the man however Adrian has gone and bought Ankur and Sharon’s house 3 and one of you lucky buggers is going to win it! 🥂,” he caption a photo of the house on Instagram.

Sharon and Ankur’s property remained on the market when it didn’t mean the reserve price at the auction. It hasn’t yet been disclosed how much Adrian bought the house for.

Adrian followed up the shock announcement with an Instagram Story thanking his “haters” for the publicity.

“For all the critics and the haters, thank you. A big shout-out for creating a platform for me to absolutely smash this out of the park. Marketing 101, baby. Let’s go!” he said.
