The wait is over, we FINALLY have our first taste of Ridley Scott’s forthcoming fashion dynasty drama House of Gucci, and it is FABULOUS darling just FABULOUS.
The biopic centres on the murder of Maurizio Gucci (played by the criminally sexy Adam Driver), grandson of the fashion-house founder Guccio Gucci. Lady Gaga is Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio’s ex-wife who was convicted in 1998 of orchestrating his assassination after he left her for a younger woman. It’s also got Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons, Jared Leto and Salma Hayek — covering literally all bases of my sexuality.
The trailer is gorgeous, sublime. Fur hats, an eerie rendition of Blondie’s ‘Heart of Glass’, Gaga with a sensual, sandpaper-dipped in honey accent, Jared Leto looking like the dog’s dinner in bulbous prosthetics, Al Pacino looking like he rolls with the Gualtieri Crew in a tracksuit, ADAM DRIVER!! IN GLASSES!! I’m seriously losing my DAMN MIND.
“I don’t consider myself to be a particularly ethical person,” coos Gaga as Patrizia, “But I am fair.” UGH so chic!
Despite the stellar-cast and museum-worthy costuming, Patrizia Gucci — the great-grandchild of Guccio Gucci — is hesitant about the film. In an interview with the Associated Press she revealed her concerns that the film “goes beyond the headline-grabbing true-crime story and pries into the private lives of the Guccio Gucci heirs.”
She continued, “We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family. They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system. … Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything. But there is a borderline that cannot be crossed
