“What shall happen if you forget about me?”, asks Winnie The Pooh in the opening of the trailer for ‘Christopher Robin’, a new live-action film due in cinemas August 3.

“Silly old bear”, reassures Christopher Robin. “I wont ever forget about you, I promise.”

But life trundles on, and forget he does. Or at least, he loses his way somewhat when a thankless job and a family he largely neglects causes him to forget that sense of magic that permeates youth.

I won’t spoil anymore of the trailer, but it’s safe to say this promises to be one of the most magical and heart-warming movies of the year. Ewan McGregor plays a grown-up Christopher Robin, and the way the toys look all worn out is beautifully sad.

The trailer is also crammed with the type of philosophical truths that both the books and the cartoons contain — “I always get to where I’m going by walking away from where I’ve been”, said Pooh of his journey — may I suggest Benjamin Hoff’s two excellent books The Te of Piglet and the Tao Of Pooh for a more in depth study of this.

Check out the trailer below, and start stockpiling your honey!
