The new Deadpool 3 video featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman talking about the movie was recently deciphered using lip reading.

The latest update for the Deadpool and Wolverine crossover, which will be taking place in Deadpool 3, featured Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman talking it out on a couch together. However, right when they started getting to the details, their voices faded into the background as the Jitterbug theme began blaring over their words.

Twitter user @Jomboy, who normally uses their skills to decipher professional baseball players talking when their voices aren’t audible, deciphered what they were saying by reading their lips.

Nothing of importance was really said, with most of the dialogue between the two coming out as over-the-top action scenes and self-deprecating humour but it’s still fun to see what they actually said. Maybe, when the movie releases and further context is given, we will find some secret meaning to their words.

“Lip Reading the Deadpool Wolverine update”

It was Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, that broke the huge announcement during his first video. “Hard keeping my mouth sewn shut about this one,” he teasingly captioned the social media post.

“Hey everyone, we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next Deadpool film for a good long while now,” the actor says in the accompanying video. “I’ve had to really search my soul on this one.

“His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning. Every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside. And I…I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here. And terrifying. But we did have one idea.”

The idea, it turns out, is a pretty big one. “Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” Reynolds then asks as Jackman walks by behind him, casually brushing his teeth.

“Yeah, sure, Ryan,” Jackman replies. As Whitney Houston’s classic song ‘I Will Always Love You’ plays in the video, the Deadpool logo appears, before Wolverine’s sharp claws slice it up. That’s how you do promo, folks. You can watch the full video below.

Deadpool 3 also has an official release date, with the film set to arrive on September 6th, 2024.
