Listen up you lucky NSW folk, because your state’s COVID-19 roadmap is changing again, with some freedoms for the fully vaccinated coming much sooner than anticipated.
Several restrictions that were supposed to end on December 1st will now be removed from next Monday, November 8th. There will be no limit on how many people you can have round your home if all are fully vaccinated, and there will also be no density rules for outdoor gatherings of less than 1,000 people.
If you’re double jabbed, get ready to hit the dance floor once again as nightclubs will be allowed to open fully, not just for drinking.
Just in time for summer, indoor swimming pools will be able to reopen for leisure and paddling, instead of just for laps and lessons.
Businesses will be positively affected too, with a one person per 2 square metre density limit now allowed. And stadiums, theatres, and cinemas will be permitted to operate at 100% capacity. Gym and dance classes will still be limited to just 20 people though.
However, it’s not such good news for those who aren’t fully vaccinated yet in NSW. While they were originally promised more freedoms from December 1st, they’ll now have to wait until 95% of people aged 16 or over in the state are double jabbed, or until December 15th, whichever comes first.
Until that time, they’ll be essentially stuck in lockdown. The only exception for unvaccinated people will be places of worship, which they are permitted to attend.
Premier Dominic Perrottet revealed that the changes were made possible due to increased vaccinated rates and the introduction of booster jabs. “We believe that by moving that date back to the 15th of December it will incentivise people,” he said. “We are hopeful that we can get that rate up to 95 per cent — that will not just be nation-leading, it will be world-leading as well.”
