Feel free to skip the tram for a change, Melburnians, because you can now find parking for a measly $5 in the CBD until the end of the year.
It’s part of City of Melbourne’s renewed effort to get Victorians back into the city and restart the economy after that gruelling and long sixth COVID lockdown.
So instead of getting depressed on the way home from dinner due to copping a ridiculously hefty $30 parking ticket, you can rest easy by knowing that bringing the car to the CBD for most of the rest of 2021 will only set you back a fiver.
The new initiative can be found at selected Wilson, Secure, Ace, Care Park, Nationwide, and First Parking car park locations. It’s available after 4pm during the week and across the entire weekend. All you have to do to take advantage of the reduced price is pre-book or book via the revenant apps.
The offer is available from now until Saturday, December 25th, which makes it perfect for doing all your Christmas shopping. No lugging heaps of gifts on a packed tram for you this year.
The initiative was previously run in July, before the most recent lockdown started, and it was a huge success. “When we launched the $5 deal in July, it generated more than 41,000 bookings in just a few weeks,” the Lord Mayor Sally Cap revealed.
Melbourne’s tough lockdown came to an end last week, with restrictions set to ease further this Friday, October 29th. It means CBD businesses will be eager to see the return of shoppers and customers before the year is out.
