Come Hither all Medieval fanatics, for St. Ives are hosting a most jovial Medieval Faire. This is the fifth instalment of St. Ives hugely successful, immersive experience.
The Medieval Faire will transfer the luscious St. Ives showground into a Medieval wonderland. There will be grand tournaments, Knights of unparalleled bravery, Vikings and a feast fit for a king.
This event is held in high regard by Medieval enthusiasts nationwide. The two-day event historically attracts 20,000 punters each year, and we can see why. Let us run you through a selection of the event’s highlights.
The International Solid Lance Jousting Tournament
Some of the finest jousters from across the world will be heading to St. Ives to do what they do best. Europe’s Lady Caroline, Sweden’s Michaël Sadde, The Netherlands’ Arne Koets and Norways’ Per Estein Prøis-Røhjell will all be suiting up to give fans an unforgettable show. We’ll also witness the return of Australia’s own Sir Phillip Leitch and his noble stallion, Valiant.
An immersive, interactive walkthrough of Medieval History
Over 350 professional living history re-enactors from Australia will land in St. Ives to perform completely interactive encampments. Giving the public an unforgettable opportunity to immerse themselves in seven centuries of spellbinding history. These actors will cover the Vikings, Byzantines, Crusades, the Hundred Years War, the Wars of the Roses and into the 17th century.
Bird of Prey
“This interactive show will include many different birds of prey, from owls to eagles, and a recreation of a 15th Century mounted hunt, where birds will be flown from horseback to catch a very 21st Century prey – a robot rabbit.”
There will also be Archery displays, Australia’s only giant trebuchet catapult, custom-made meads and special edition ales, costume competitions, bonfires, live music, artisan markets and activities for kids.
