When it comes to skewering middle class suburban Aussies, nothing will ever top Kath & Kim, but one TikTok account is still doing a hilarious job of it.
Finn Burton, otherwise known as @finns.vlogs, is earning a reputation for her wonderful impressions of a Rich Aussie Mum, struggling through various comical scenarios.
From Double Bay to Bondi, Teneriffe to Toorak, it’s a personality type we all know so well. The Rich Aussie Mum – or RAM as the character’s referred to on Finn’s account – is supremely confident, unabashedly loud, and an absolute Chatty Cathy.
One extremely popular clip – viewed over one million times – provides a point of view experience of a RAM doing your brows. “Darling, your brows are looking really, really bushy,” she declares condescendingly. She then attacks her the daughter’s brows with a pencil, dismayed that she refuses to go to a proper brow appointment.
Another clip imagines if the RAM had dogs, and of course the dog is called Chanel. “What do you say, darling? Chanel? Chanel?” she asks the poor pet when it doesn’t immediately thank her for getting some treats. The nerve.
Her latest RAM clip is quintessentially Aussie, with the character introducing foreigners to the, um, ‘rich’ wildlife that enter our homes and “don’t really pay rent.” Finn even tagged Robert Irwin in the post: “Let me know if you ever need an extra wildlife presenter. I have a feeling the RAM would thrive… maybe,” she wryly suggested.
