In painfully on the nose news. There are reports that Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino is eyeing off a reunion with Timotheé Chalamet on an adaptation of the Camille DeAngelis novel Bones & All

As Deadline reports, Luca Guadagnino has reportedly tapped Timotheé and Taylor Russell (Waves) for the project. With Dave Kajganich (Suspiria) to pen the script.

Described as a cannibal love story, Camille DeAngelis’ novel follows the story of  Maren Yearly who is on “a cross-country trip as she searches for the father she’s never met in an attempt to understand why she has the urge to kill and eat the people that love her.”

It’s all very timely considering the recent controversy involving fellow Call Me By Your Name star Armie Hammer and his alleged proclivity for cannibalism.

In case you missed it, a series of unverified Instagram DM messages allegedly written by Armie Hammer leaked online earlier this months. The messages detailed a number of graphic sexual fantasies, including references to cannibalism, rape fantasies and BDSM.

Hammer has vehemently denied the “bullshit claims” against him. Though in light of the controversy, he has stepped down from a number of projects, including rom-com Shotgun Wedding and ‘ The Offer —an upcoming drama series that delves into the making of The Godfather.

“I’m not responding to these bullshit claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic,” Hammer shared in a statement with Variety. “Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”

I don’t think anybody truly believes the deranged narrative that Armie Hammer is actually interested in cannibalism. The messages read like a hamfisted and confused attempt at letting ones freak flag fly. Though it’s nice to revel in the irony of this whole situation.

Timotheé Chalamet is set to star in the forthcoming adaptation of Frank Hebert’s Dune as well as Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, both will arrive later this year. Whilst Luca Guadagnino recently unveiled his television debut with the moving, perfect HBO series We Are Who We Are.
