A “terrifying” 60 Minutes interview with Tom Cruise and Australian journalist Peter Overton has gone viral 17 years after it first aired.

In the interview, Cruise can be seen staring down Overton and imitating him when the actor was asked a question he didn’t like.

“Is Nicole the love of your life?” Overton asked Cruise in the interview, which took place four years after Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise’s divorce. The ‘Mission Impossible’ actor responded, “What do you mean, Peter? How do you answer that question?”

Overton then asked Cruise what the status of their current relationship was. “You’re stepping over the line now. You’re stepping over the line, and you know you are,” Cruise replied.

Overton responded, “I suppose they’re questions that people want to know…” Cruise didn’t let the journalist finish his sentence and jumped in saying, “Peter. Peter. You want to know. Take responsibility for what you want to know.”

“So, I’m just telling you right now, okay, just put your manners back in.”

Social media users have been tweeting about Cruise’s direct manner, with many dubbing it “terrifying”.

“I cannot imagine having this man talk to me this way. I would start crying. He’s so scary,” tweeted one person. Another added, “He’s literally terrifying without screaming even once,” wrote another.
