“Oh hi Mark, meet my legal team!”
Tommy Wiseau, director of the cult classicThe Room, a film that has more than occasionally been described as one of the worst movies of all time, has reportedly enlisted a legal team in order to “pursue action” against the Sydney Underground Film Festival should they choose to proceed with screenings ofRoom Full Of Spoons, an expose about the making of Wiseau’s movie.
In response, the Sydney Underground Festival have pulled the screenings of the documentary, with festival director Stefan Popescu commenting, “Ironically, this is the biggest censorship issue our festival has ever had, and it is not from the government – it’s from the man who has delusions of cinematic adequacy, Tommy Wiseau.” Ouch.
Good news though: the screenings ofRoom Full Of Spoons will be replaced by screenings ofThe Room, Wiseau’s own film, so you judge Wiseau’s “cinematic adequacy” yourself.
