You’d likely know by now, that card games can be the source of exorbitant amounts of tension. They can lead to all kinds of betrayal and conflict amongst family or friendship groups.
Ask any game player, any loyalties that exist before are lost, as friendship rules are tossed out the window, with only the strict rules of the game being left in their wake. Have you ever considered the fact that maybe, you’ve been playing by the wrong rules this whole time. Well, prepare to have the world as you know it shattered, as UNO has confirmed the official real rules of the game. You’ll be in shock.
The makers of the game took to social media over the weekend, intent on clearing up something we never knew needed clearing up. It just so turns out we’ve been playing Uno wrong this whole time.
You might need a little bit of refreshing here. So, remember just how annoying it is when the player in front of you places down a +4 [or pick up four] card? Ugh – how disrespectful does it get? Can’t you tell I’m trying to win this thing?
Well, normally, some of us who are lucky enough to be carrying a +2 card simply think “Hey, I’ll just chuck this bad boy on top” in order to make that player pick up 6. Fair enough, right? That’s definitely not the case, as UNO has confirmed. They’ve set the record darn straight, once and for all.
Draw 4 + Draw 4? Nope. Draw 4 + Draw 2? Nope. Draw 2 + Draw 2? Nope.
They’ve taken to Twitter to confirm they know what we’ve been doing years. The official Twitter account for the game took to the social media platform to confirm that stacking isn’t allowed in this situation.
If someone puts down a +4 card, you must draw 4 and your turn is skipped. You can’t put down a +2 to make the next person Draw 6. We know you’ve tried it. #UNO pic.twitter.com/wOegca4r0h

So, what does this mean for a rule bending player like you or I? Basically, if this were to happen, you must accept the fact you’re now four cards richer, and your turn is also skipped. It sure ain’t great news.
As you’d expect, the news hasn’t been received too well. We’ve been playing this way for so long, so I’m not sure how they expect us to change our ways now. Grr.
Since posting that tweet, they’ve attracted over 2,000 comments, most of which are people hounding the game creators for actually thinking it was ok to post such a thing. One person called them out for lying, while others have claimed UNO creators don’t know how to play their own game.
And, to make things worse, creators have even told Twitter users a +4 and a +4 can’t be used together, nor can a +2 and a +2. I’m not okay.
You don’t know how to play the game right

Wow. My childhood has been a lie

I must admit, I’m not sure if my life is a lie or not. Earlier this year, it was revealed that a draw four card can only be used if you have no other cards available. Wtf?
