When she’s not starring in seriously cheesy Christmas movies, it turns out Vanessa Hudgens has been keeping busy by chatting with ghosts.

The High School Musical star stopped by Kelly Clarkson’s talk show earlier this week and casually revealed her paranormal abilities. “I’ve accepted the fact that I see things and I hear things,” she told the presumably bemused host. “I kind of shut it down for a while (because) the unknown is scary. But I recently was like, ‘No, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do, so I’m going to lean into it.'”

According to the actress, she had an experience with the paranormal back when she was just eight-years-old when she saw one of her toys move on its own. Unsurprisingly terrified, she repressed her talent until recently. Thanks to something called a “spirit box”, though, Hudgens is now hitting graveyards attempting to communicate with the dead.

“We found this one tombstone of a spirit that we were told is very playful,” she said. “So, I turn on (the spirit box) and I said, ‘Hi Sam, I’m Vanessa (and) this is Gigi’ … And then Gigi goes, ‘Sam, can you tell us our names?’ Then we just hear ‘Vanessa’ (static sounds) ‘Gigi.’ I was like, ‘Cool, do you have anything else that you want to tell me?'”

Unfortunately Sam the ghost wasn’t feeling up to chit chat, but Hudgens said that you still “have to tell spirits to stay” so that they don’t follow you.

Well there you go. I wonder if Hudgens will be able to get in touch with the ghost of her own career. She could also join fellow celebrity Demi Lovato on their docuseries Unidentified with Demi Lovato, which sees the singer indulge in their passion for the paranormal.

“Something happened in every city that we went to, which was really cool,” Lovato once said. “Not necessarily just with UFOs, but there was even paranormal things that happened. For instance, in Vulture City, you’ll have to see what what goes down there in I believe the second episode.”
