Following some recording for an upcoming EP and an appearance at Wollombi Music Festival, Novocastrian group Vanishing Shapes are set to take their progressive folk to Sydney for their first ever tour.

Combining flute, clarinet, guitar, viola, double bass and vocals, Vanishing Shapes are a high-energy amalgamation of folk music with roots in progressive metal. Originally formed at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music for an assingment, the group were meant to play a few folk songs and ended up with a ten-minute arrangment of shifting harmonic and rhythmic textures.

To catch this proggy folk in the flesh, Vanishing Shapes will be setting foot in Sydney for a night of mostly instrumental, narrative-driven songs.

Vanishing Shapes will play at The Dock on Sunday September 27, more information through Facebook.
