People are throwing their Vans trainers in the air as part of a new viral Internet challenge.
The challenge suggests that, like cats, Vans will always land upright when thrown on the floor. This challenge stemmed from a single Twitter user, @Ibelievthehype, who shared a video of her discovery with the caption, “it doesn’t matter how you throw your vans they will land facing up.”

The Internet has wasted no time testing out this hypothesis themselves. Since the video was posted, swathes of people have shared videos testing out the theory. The majority of videos have proved it to be true.
If we’re being real here, it makes perfect sense that the shoes land top-side up. Vans were designed for skaters, so they have a thicc as hell sole to help weigh feet down on a skateboard. If I had a neckbeard, this would be the ideal time for me to drop a “science bitch!” line, but it’s 2019 and we respect ourselves now.
If you, like me, love to spend your time on the internet watching people do mundane shit over and over and over until you lose your complete sense of identity — check out some shining examples of people throwing their shoes in the air below.

It’s not all fun and games though. Unfortunately, this challenge has resulted in heartbreak for a few people. Who have since discovered that they have been hustled, scammed, bamboozled and hoodwinked into buying fake Vans. After their shoes failed to land the right way up.
Just found out my vans are fake. This is devastating news and I deserve a refund pic.twitter.com/jCtYic0PDe

Whilst we’re on the topic of skate shoes, why don’t you read all about that time we were almost blessed with a Space Jam sequel starring Tony Hawk. Oh, we didn’t even mention the best part, the film that never was, was penned to be titled Skate Jam.
