In news nobody probably expected to hear, Vin Diesel has attempted to bury the hatchet with Dwayne Johnson, asking him to return for a new Fast & Furious

The actors infamously fell out while working on 2017’s The Fate of the Furious together, the eighth instalment in the franchise. But Diesel seems like he wants bygones to be bygones, expressing his hope that Johnson will return to the franchise.

My little brother Dwayne… the time has come,” Diesel wrote on Instagram, which is a bit like referring to Elon Musk as your ‘poor friend’. “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits.”

Diesel continued: “I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo [Paul Walker]. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”

Johnson hasn’t responded to Diesel’s call out yet but it will be pretty difficult to ignore. The pair haven’t acted together since The Fate of the Furious, although Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs was given his own spinoff film, 2019’s Hobbs & Shaw, which saw him paired with Jason Statham instead.

A tenth film in the franchise has been planned, with Justin Lin attached to return to direct it. It’s expected to be released in 2023 after being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
