The first trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series, Moon Knight, is here, and it should tide Marvel fans over until it’s time for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness in May.

Oscar Isaac leads the cast as the titular character, a man who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. Discovering his true identity becomes the least of his problems, though, when he meets the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, who turns him into his vengeful avatar, Moon Knight.

Prepare for a gory and violent take on the usual Marvel antihero. It’s good that Marvel don’t seem content with offering viewers the same type of show – this horror and thriller-infested series looks like being vastly different to, say, WandaVision.

Ethan Hawke is also in Moon Knight as Arthur Harrow, a mysterious baddie who seriously resembles a cult leader, although not much is known about the rest of the cast. Both Hawke and Isaac are a long way from projects like Before Sunrise and Inside Llewyn Davis these days.

“Well, it’s where I’m at as an actor. A lot of it, to be honest, I love the fact that Moon Knight is a lesser-known story and allows more creative freedom,” Hawke explained in an interview with The Ringer when pressed on why he chose to join Moon Knight‘s cast.

“The director is Mohamed Diab and he’s a brilliant guy. I’ve seen a couple of his movies and wanted to work with him anyway. I had a meeting with him about another project of his own. And a lot of it is Oscar, to me, to be honest with you. I find him to be a very exciting player in my field. I like what he’s doing with his life. He reminds me of the actors, when I first arrived at New York, that I looked up to.”

The even better news for Marvel fans is that this is one of five projects in the MCU set to arrive on Disney+ in 2022: She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion, the I Am Groot animated shorts, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are all set to follow Moon Knight on the streaming platform.
