If you weren’t already aware, Rooty Hill scored itself a brand new $100 million venue. The Sydney Coliseum Theatre will officially open its doors on December 21st. To celebrate, they’ve enlisted a roster of Australia’s finest artists and entertainers to celebrate the occasion.

Australia’s sweetheart Tina Arena will be the first artist to grace the stage of the 2,000 seat venue. Arena is set to play two exclusive shows on Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th.  Grammy Award-winning country superstar Keith Urban will also be taking part in the Official Grand Opening Performance, where he will treat fans to a special ‘Keith Urban and Friends’ performance on December 21st. John Butler will be joining the party for a special solo show on December 20th. 

Entertainment juggernaut, Dame Edna Everage, has been forced to abandon retirement by order of her precious possums. The larger than life housewife will grace the stage for two performances of ‘Dame Edna My Gorgeous Life’ on Wednesday, December 18th and Thursday, December 19th.

Today’s announcements of these world-class opening acts, and the partnerships we have established with the cream of Australia’s arts and entertainment industry, are just the beginning of a long-term plan to bring the very best artistic and entertainment content to Greater Sydney,” West HQ CEO Richard Errington shared in a statement.

The Sydney Coliseum Theatre has unveiled a three-year partnership with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The SSO are set to perform “symphonic favourites of the classical repertoire, with internationally-renowned guest conductors and artists plus blockbuster movies on the big screen with a live orchestral score.”

Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s CEO Emma Dunch has expressed her enthusiasm over the Orchestra’s forthcoming residency at the venue. “Greater Western Sydney is the future of our city,” she shared in a statement. The establishment of this amazing venue is a testament to the extraordinary growth that is happening in region.”

Bangarra Dance Theatre, Sydney Dance Company, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Sydney Youth Orchestra and the Australia Ballet are among a slew of companies that have committed to showcasing their art at the Coliseum.
