The PS5 are finally being launched this week and this leads us to a big question: where can you get one of these things?

After much hype and positive impressions, we’re mere hours away from the long-awaited launch of the PS5.

Now this is super exciting for gamers who have been waiting a long time to upgrade their old PS4 and Xbox One, but there’s a slight problem for those who didn’t pre-order and were hoping to walk into an EB Games or JB Hi-Fi and walk out with a shiny new console: They’re more or less all sold out already ahead of its Thursday, November 12th, launch date

So for those hoping to get their hands on a PS5, here’s where things stand in terms of stock and what procedures are in place at the various places that sell these consoles (via Kotaku Australia).

EB Games

Not only is there no chance you’ll get a PS5 if you walk in off the street, apparently some stores are so goddamn sold out that if you pre-order now you’ll get your console in April.

Hell, some stores have stopped taking pre-orders altogether since they don’t even know when the next shipment of consoles will be arriving.

That’s not promising.

JB Hi-Fi

Based on Kotaku Australia‘s reporting and our own investigation, JB Hi-Fi are more or less in the same leaky boat as EB Games.

JB are super sold out of PS5 consoles and with Sony not telling them when the next shipments will arrive, they’ve had to stop pre-orders as well.

Big W/Harvey Norman/Target

Well info is pretty scarce here but these big stores are allowing online orders only and… that’s basically it actually.

No info on how much stock each store has, or when you’ll get your PS5 if you managed to successfully pre-order one. Not much help there unfortunately.

Kogan

The only information available is a big “Coming Soon” sign. Next.

Amazon Australia

I’ll quote what the site says: “We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.” Moving on then!

The Gamesmen

Okay, I have promising news here: The Gamesmen have got you covered (if you’re quick)!

Australia’s longest-running indie video game store says they’ve got stock coming in December and pre-orders will go live on Thursday, November 12th, at 10am AEDT.

For those who miss out online or live within a reasonable distance to the Gamesmen, they’ll have some stock reserved for in-store purchases that will be available on Friday, November 13th, at 10am AEST.

So in summary, it’s going to be bloody hard to get your hands on a PS5 before Christmas but it’s not quite impossible.

Worst comes to worse, you might as well try your luck with our PS5 giveaway (or our Xbox Series X one). Though at the state of how things are going in Australia, it looks like we’ll struggle to get a console to give to the winner.
