All you sick freaks with a penchant for Australian backpacker slashers are going to have a field day, the third instalment of Greg McClean’s Wolf Creek franchise has been confirmed.
Wolf Creek 3 will see John Jarrat reprise his role as the notorious, cutthroat serial killer Mick Taylor. Per Variety, in the film “an American family takes a dream trip to the Australian outback and soon draws the attention of notorious serial killer Mick Taylor. A hellish nightmare ensues as the couple’s two children escape only to be hunted by Australia’s most infamous killer.”
Award-winning director Rachele Wiggins is set to take on directorial duties. Greg McLean will act as producer via his Emu Creek Pictures banner, with Bianca Martino (The Darkness) and Kristian Moliere (The Babadook) are also attached to produce.
“Serial killing pig shooter Mick Taylor — portrayed by the iconic Australian actor John Jarratt — will once more terrorise the Outback,” McLean said in a statement. “And we couldn’t be more excited about the creative team we’ve assembled to realise the next chilling chapter in the Wolf Creek franchise. Duncan’s compelling, suspense-filled script combined with Rachele’s exciting directorial vision for the film will deliver a horror roller-coaster ride sure to delight genre fans around the world.”
The first two instalments of Wolf Creek were based on the harrowing 1990s Ivan Milat and 2001 Bradley Murdoch backpacker murders.
Production on Wolf Creek 3 will begin in South Australia in late 2021. In the meantime, fulfil your craving for violent Australian delights with these Australian horror classics.
