I’m keen as to take a trip different than just re-visiting my fridge. So, if Jetstar are offering up $19 flights between Sydney and Melbourne, then you can count me in!
It has absolutely sucked having all travel plans cancelled. Many of us thought that 2020 was going to be our year, and I, personally, already had plans for a nice little weekend to Adelaide for a friends wedding, plus a three-week stay in America, but all of that has been put far out of mind with restrictions in place.
But, with current cases of the virus slowly petering out in Australia, we should see some restrictions start to lift, including interstate travel resume, which is honestly enough good news to get me doing a happy dance.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has announced that us travel lovers could expect flights from Melbourne to Sydney for mere pocket change, as prices may be anywhere from $19-39 per flight.
Talking with the Sydney Morning Herald, Joyce said for travel between “Melbourne-Sydney, you could see Jetstar have $39 airfares, you could see $19 airfares and we’ll still cover our cash costs on those flights.”
Don’t get ready to pack your backs just yet, as we can expect at least a few more months of the mundane, local travel, as Jetstar’s website explains that the airline “will be carrying out domestic and Trans-Tasman flight cancellations beyond the end [of] May through to the end of June 2020,” with international restrictions lasting until 2021.
So, where will you set your eyes on first? For me, a weekend on the sunny Sydney beaches sounds like a dream in comparison to Melbourne’s massively wet autumn.

Even though we’ll still be seeing a few months without interstate flights, then thought alone is joyful to think about, considering that the most Insta-worthy vacation I’ve taken this month is a walk around the block to grab some fresh air.
