Just when we thought 2020 couldn’t get any more chaotic, it appears a Borat sequel could be on its way sooner rather than later.
That’s right, legendary comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly already finished filming a long-awaited follow up to the 2006 hit film.
According to Collider, the tentatively titled Borat 2 has been shot and screened for a “select few industry types”.
Citing industry sources, Collider claimed that the sequel is set to centre around Borat adjusting to his new-found fame off the back of the original movie’s success.
While plot details still remain murky, it’s rumoured that the film will see Borat “go undercover” in order to keep a low profile while interviewing people.
Most other details regarding Borat 2 still remain under-wraps, including whether original director Larry Charles has returned for round two.
It is also not yet clear when we can expect to see the film grace our screens, although Collider speculated it may premiere on a streaming service like Netflix due to its (presumedly) explicit content.

It appears filming on the project may have only very recently wrapped up, as an eagle-eyed fan posted a YouTube video of what appears to be Cohen filming as Borat just last month.
In news that may or may not be related to Borat 2, Cohen now infamously trolled a bevy of alt-right rally attendees back in June.
A barely-disguised Cohen took to the stage at the “March for Our Rights 3” rally while pretending to be a reveller enjoying the festivities. Whether this was indeed an instance of Borat going undercover for the movie or just Cohen looking to wreak havoc remains to be seen.
Regardless, while it’s fair to say we weren’t exactly expecting a sequel to come some 15 years after the original, we’re cautiously optimistic as to what Borat 2 has in store for us.
