You’d think that fallout of Cats would have deterred the entertainment industry from subjecting us to more CGI animal movies, but you’d be wrong. A truly disturbing trailer for Paramount’s live-action adaptation of beloved childhood classic Clifford the Big Red Dog has arrived.

The cursed production is the malevolent work of the team behind the Sonic The Hedgehog purgatory. You know, the cats that gave that feisty little hedgehog with human teeth.

“This holiday season, we’re thankful for the pets whose love got us through the year,” the trailer threatens. “But next year, get ready to love even bigger.”

Everything about the film feels like a fever dream. It’s set to follow Emily Elizabeth, portrayed by the excellent Darby Camp, who encounters a magician played by John Cleese who gifts her Clifford.

When Emily discovers that Clifford is gifted with incredulous size, she, alongside English comedian Jack Whitehall, are forced to make their way around New York City, protecting their precious paprika puppy against an evil genetics company.

This live-action adaptation of Clifford the Big Red Dog will also see performances from Sienna Guillory, Rosie Perez, Kenan Thompson, and Horatio Sanz.

It is directed by Walt Becker, the director responsible for some of the finest cinematic achievements of the 21st century including Wild Hogs, Old Dogs, and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip.
