Better cancel that gym membership and grab yourself a VB, fellas – the “dad bod” is in fashion.

According to a new survey from Planet Fitness, an increasing amount of women prefer the dad bod over six-packs and abs.

The study has discovered that almost 80 per cent of blokes reckon they’re at peace with their physique.

Here are the stats:

  • 79 per cent of males are happy with their dad-bod physique.
  • 72 per cent of males with one say it has improved their lives
  • 46 per cent of males say their bod has made them feel “more relaxed”
  • 65 per cent of survey participants say that the body type is attractive
  • 61 per cent of participants went as far as to say it was “sexy”
  • and 51 per cent of participants claim the dad bod is the “new six pack”.

We took these results to Brag readers, who also contend dad bods are the way to go. One reader said “Big fan”, while another said “Fkn love it.”

“Too much effort to get a six pack so I’m relieved people like lazy bodies,” one reader claimed. “Fookin love em,” another commented. One woman claims “the dad bod looks good on my husband.”

“Froff a dad body,” one reader contends. “F***ing sexy”.

One proud dad bod owner who isn’t actually a dad said “I’m not a dad but have played the role. The body and jokes have stuck.”

However, not all readers were so kind. One explained “Daddy body = bad body,” and another said “no man with a dad body is good for me.”

This comes as health experts warn Australian parents to minimise the amount of salt they feed their kids, amidst a prevalence of heart issue related deaths.
