Domino’s are leaning into nostalgia with their latest item menu, an on-the-go friendly lunchtime pizza pocket.
Is there any cellular memory more visceral than burning the roof of your mouth with a piping hot pizza pocket from your primary school tuck shop? I don’t think so. Burnt once, burnt forevermore. I will never hear the words “pizza pocket” without immediately recalling hours spent prodding the singed, bubbling skin of my mouth with my tongue whilst sitting through a teacher languidely read through Animal Farm.
The Domino’s take on the Pizza Pocket is a little more extravagant than the McCains offering is so deeply entrenched in the DNA of Aussie’s everywhere. Stringy mozzarella, full-bodied tomato sauce and your choice of either pepperoni or ham are cradled by sumptuous pillowy dough.
The grab ‘n’ go option s cheap as chips, and will set ya back a meagre $2.95. They’re made and baked fresh to order, so you just know that you’ll still be privy to experiencing the familiar sensation of seared flesh.
“At Domino’s, w e know that our customers love the taste of our piping hot pizzas but need something they can easily grab and eat on the run,” said Chef Michael Treacy. “Our new Pizza Pockets range has been designed with convenience front of mind –
and belly!”
If the thought of dribbling hot oil and cheese grease over your crisp oxford entices you, the Domino’s pizza pocket is available for your indulgence now. They’ll be flogged everyday until 4 pm.
In other news, after an extensive online campaign, Domino’s finally buckled under the pressure of Australia’s pastry enthusiasts and announced that their beloved Puff Pastry Crust has returned.
