Don’t be hanging around for a post-credits scene when you go to see Dune, not with Denis Villeneuve involved.

In a new interview with NME, the director revealed how much he detests them. “I don’t like post-credits scenes,” he said. “There is a very specific final emotion that I was looking for with the final frame (of Dune) and I don’t want to mess with that. So no, I don’t use post-credits scenes. I’ve never done that and I would never.”

Post-credits scenes have become popular in the Marvel era, being used to set up Phase 400 or whatever in the MCU. Is it any wonder, then, that Villeneuve isn’t a post-credits scene fan, given his open disdain for Marvel?

The director also explained that the theatrical cut of Dune is the only cut of the film. Jason Momoa, one of the film’s stars, recently publicly stated his desire for the full six-hour cut of Villeneuve’s Dune to be released.

“I love Jason but such a thing doesn’t exist!” he said. “The Director’s Cut is what people are watching in theaters right now. There will be no other cut…Yes I could have made a much longer, more contemplative movie, but that was not the plan.”

Dune is set to be a two-part adaptation of Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi novel, with a sequel set up by the ending of the first film. Villeneuve had wanted to make them back-to-back, similar to how Peter Jackson made the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but Warner Bros. decided to wait and see the level of interest in part one.

Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff was hesitant when Deadline asked about the next film. “Will we have a sequel to ‘Dune?’ If you watch the movie you see how it ends,” he said. “I think you pretty much know the answer to that.”
