It’s been four years since Eminem released his last album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, and with the rap God currently taking his longest break between records, fans are anxious to hear new material from the hip-hop legend. But if a new viral marketing campaign is be believed, it looks like album number nine might be on the way.

A couple of days ago, Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, took to Instagram to share an image of Yelawolf’s new album, Trial By Fire. But it wasn’t the album that captured the attention of fans, it was what was in the background.

Eagle-eyed fans noted that the poster in the background, seemingly-promoting a drug of some sort called ‘Revival’, features a backwards ‘E’, much like Eminem’s releases do. A little bit of research later, and fans had uncovered a website, telephone hotline, and even a TV commercial for Revival, all of which included thinly-veiled references to Em’s music.

Fans were also quick to discover that the Revival website was paid for by Interscope Records, better known as Eminem’s record label, adding further fuel to the fire that this is some of marketing campaign for a new Eminem record. (There’s no word yet if the money used to fun this campaign came from Eminem’s payout from the New Zealand National Party, but it would certainly be a decent use of the funds.)

But above all, the most damning evidence of all of this is the very name ‘Revival’ itself. Back in 2009, Eminem released his sixth album, Relapse, before following it up with Recovery in 2010. So what comes next in this theme? Well, we’re not sure, but Revival would certainly fit rather well.

Currently, we’ve got no idea when Eminem’s new record is set to drop, but we definitely recommend keeping an eye on these websites and other social media for more clues that could play into this marketing campaign.

Meanwhile, we recently saw a few rumours of a potential Australian tour announcement from Eminem. While this rumours have yet to be confirmed or substantiated, the fact that a new record from the rapper might be around the corner tends to add a little bit credence to these rumours.
