The first look at The Grand Inquisitor in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ has just come out and fans are not happy about the design.

In the midst of Disney’s wild conference call the trailer for the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series was released, which takes place 10 years after Order 66 and will show audiences Obi-Wan’s trials and tribulations as a Jedi in the Empire’s new galaxy and how he will protect Luke Skywalker.

Many first looks come amidst the trailer, including Obi-Wan himself, Luke Skywalker from a distance, Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen, a new inquisitor played by Moses Ingram, as well as The Grand Inquisitor.

@CultureCrave posted a gif of the character in action which gave us a closer look at The Grand Inquisitor. Fans were quick to react.

One response to the criticism of The Grand Inquisitor’s look is that animation doesn’t translate to live-action perfectly. In response to that, this Twitter user mentions that this excuse isn’t valid, as we’ve already seen The Grand Inquisitor’s species in live-action all the way back in Revenge of the Sith.

Another fan of the trailer pointed out the same point: that we’ve already seen the Pau’an’s look and the move to change the head shape is confusing for fans paying close attention.

@KeyanCarlile says we have a Bob the Tomato from VeggieTales situation on our hands. The resemblance is quite striking.

The comment from this user points out that the altered look takes away from the menacing aspect of The Grand Inquisitor and gives him more of  a “Dave from accounting” feel.

The Grand Inquisitor meets Humpty Dumpty here and damn, these fans cannot stop ripping into this design.

Another one. This fan (who is playing Elden Ring) compares the bulbous head of The Grand Inquisitor to the bulbous head of Megamind.
