Good news, everyone! The cast of Futurama have been chatting and they’re apparently keen on doing a continuation of the popular animated show.

It’s hard to believe but Futurama ended its long – and somewhat tumultuous – TV run seven years ago.

Looking back, the cult favourite animated sci-fi series from Matt Groening holds up remarkably well, so much so that many fans would immediately jump at the chance for new episodes.

As it so happens, fans aren’t the only ones keen for more Futurama because the cast are onboard as well.

Chatting to SYFY WIRE, veteran voice actor Maurice LaMarche, who voiced a range of characters on Futurama including Kif Kroker and Hedonismbot, says he and the rest of the show’s voice cast talk about it all the time and would definitely be keen to do a continuation of some sort.

“If Fox was to come up with the right offer, but I know Matt would love to do it again,” says LaMarche. “[Futurama co-creator] David Cohen, I think, might be into it. I think semi-retirement is finally wearing on him [laughs]. He had to get back to writing on The Simpsons just to keep busy.”

While LaMarche is also realistic about the low chances of the show coming back (again), he is keeping an open mind about it all and has his fingers crossed that a potential Futurama continuation or reboot of some kind will happen sooner rather than later since everyone is getting older.

“I have to leave it up to the Powers That Be, but I know everybody’s into it, including the cast,” says the voice actor. “It would be great to do it before Billy West [voice of Fry, Dr. Zoidberg, and Professor Farnsworth] turns 80.”

“So hopefully someday there’ll be a Futurama reboot, but we’re well-practiced at the reboot thing. We got rebooted twice, so there might be less of a huzzah about it, but it’d be nice to do that again.”

Who really knows what will happen at this point, but I know I could do with some more of Bender and his “shiny metal ass” right about now.
