Grill’d has decided to dip its toes into the fried chicken ring and is rubbing it in KFC’s greasy face with its new HFC offering.

We love it when fast food giants get into petty spats and Grill’d has now given us something to get the popcorn out while the whole Macca’s/Hungry Jacks feud is taking a bit of a breather.

So last week Grill’d launched its new line of “healthy fried chicken (HFC)” made from “100 percent Australian RSPCA approved chicken breast” that’s “100 percent natural” with no artificial colours, flavours and preservatives, and is cooked in extra virgin olive oil.

These new HFC bites come in natural or sticky honey soy, all of which sounds pretty damn good and looks the part as well.

Launching a new range of fried chicken products is all good and well, but Grill’d decided to have a bit of fun at KFC’s expense by offering KFC employees free HFC bites when they visit a Grill’s store while in their uniform.

It’s all in good fun of course but it seems like there’s quite a number of Grill’d fans among the KFC staff as there were over 150 KFC employees who took up Grill’d on their free HFC offer.

Now since this whole light-hearted joke went so well, Grill’d are now offering free HFC bites for everyone. Well, almost everyone.

From now (Wednesday, November 25th) until Monday, December 14th, Grill’d will be giving away free HFC bites to all its Relish members. If you’re not a Relish member, now’s probably the best time to sign up.

Between Macca’s adding new chicken menu items, KFC doing its usual thing, Chargrill Charlie’s adding more locations, and now Grill’d doing its own take on fried chicken, this really does seem like the summer of chicken for Aussie food lovers.
