‘Heartbreak High’, the much-loved young adult series 90s Aussie kids frothed over, is getting a Netflix reboot.

I’m probably biased in saying this since I’m an Aussie kid who was born in 1990 but I think the 90s was arguable the best period when it came to quality Australian TV shows.

We had Animals Of Farthing Wood, Round The TwistArt AttackBananas In Pajamas, everything on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network at the time, and The Trap Door just to name a few.

Yes we were pretty spoiled for choice when it came to TV content in the 90s, but it looks like a new generation of viewers are going to experience some of this nostalgia because we’re getting a reboot of one of the most iconic Aussie shows ever: Heartbreak High.

Netflix has commissioned a new series of Heartbreak High that will be inspired by the original 90s series but “totally reimagined for a new generation.”

“We haven’t had a rebellious Australian YA series on screen since the original Heartbreak High, so this is well overdue,” says Netflix Director of Originals in Australia Que Minh Luu in a press statement. “The new Heartbreak High is for young people in Australia today to feel seen – showcasing their stories, senses of humour and aesthetics to the world, and reminding everyone that they are much, much cooler than us.”

“It’s also for the 90s kids, fans of the original series who remember what it’s like to feel understood by a TV show, then racking off. This Netflix show will be ours, and we can’t wait to get started.”

As for how much Heartbreak High we’ll be getting and when this reboot will drop, the series is scheduled for a global debut on Netflix in 2022 at some point and will go for eight episodes.

If eight episodes isn’t enough, you might as well watch the OG version of the show because all 210 episodes are also on Netflix.

With Aunty Donna getting their own series and now this Heartbreak High reboot, is it too much to ask for a Round The Twist reboot of some sort? Pretty please, Netflix?
