Head of content at HBO, Casey Bloys, just casually announced that House of the Dragon has finished production.

The Game of Thrones successor, House of the Dragon, will be coming to HBO Max in 2022. In a recent interview with Deadline Bloys has given further updates on the show, stating that it has officially moved past production— meaning filming has wrapped.

“One of the reasons why we’re trying to be cautious about it is when you’re shooting a show that big during a pandemic, especially with the last round [with] a lot of crew and cast members… you didn’t know who was going to drop out or if we’re going to have to shut down so we just didn’t want to declare a date and then find ourselves shut down,” he said. “Now that we are out of production, I think that we will talk to their guys and figure out what we want to do in terms of announcing a date. But I was just trying to make sure that we didn’t come out with a date that we couldn’t meet for something that was out of our control.”

Bloys continues to talk about how the show will look inwards when it comes to things such as a premiere date and when a full-length trailer will be released.

“A good operating principle is not to worry too much about other what people have aired and to keep your eyes on your own work. I feel very good about House of Dragon and we’ll premiere it when we premiere it.”

“I don’t know about Comic-Con; we haven’t announced any of our plans yet. I don’t even want to say “soon” but you’ll start to see material … if I say “soon,” I’ll leave that vague. So maybe soon.”

House of the Dragon stars Matt Smith (Daemon Targaryen), Emma D’arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen), Milly Alcock (Rhaenyra Targaryen), Paddy Considine (Viserys Targaryen), Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon), Eve Best ( Rhaenys Velaryon), Rhys Ifans (Otto Hightower), Sonota Mizuno (Mysaria), Fabian Frankel (Criston Cole), Emily Carey (Alicent Hightower), Ryan Corr (Harwin ‘Breakbones’ Strong), and Jefferson Hall (Jason Lannister) among many others.

We will have you all covered as the show gets closer to release.
