Hugh Jackman has taken another jab at his friend Ryan Reynolds in their ongoing fake feud. This time he begged the Academy Awards not to nominate Reynolds in the best song category for Spirited.

Reynolds has made the shortlist for the 2023 Oscars in the Best Original Song category for the track Good Afternoon from his Christmas movie Spirited.

However, Jackman has publicly pleaded for the Academy not to nominate Reynolds in the category, because it would make his life “insufferable”.

Hey everybody. It’s 2023 and I really, really wanted to send out a positive message at the beginning of the year. But, recent events have made that impossible,” Jackman begins in the playful video.

He continued, “Don’t get me wrong. I loved spirited. It’s a great movie. We had a blast, my entire family watched it. I love Will. I love Octavia. Obviously, I did the greatest showman with Benj and Justin they’re incredible and I loved their music.

And ‘good afternoon’ by the way, the song ‘good afternoon’ I laughed the entire way through. It is absolutely brilliant.

After complimenting multiple elements of Spirited, Jackman picks a bone with Reynolds’s Oscar shortlist achievement.

“However. I’ve just heard the academy have shortlisted good afternoon in the best song category.

“Now, Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the best song category would make the next year of my life insufferable.

“It would, I mean, I have to spend the year with him shooting Wolverine and Deadpool. Trust me, it would be impossible. It’d be a problem.

“So, but just to recap, love Spirited, love will, love Octavia, love the song ‘Good Afternoon’, love Benj and Justin. But please, please from the bottom of my heart, do not validate Ryan Reynolds in this way. Please,” he concluded.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are very close friends and their long-running ‘feud’ dates back to 2009. The actors met on the set of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and have jokingly taken countless jabs at each other over the years.
