Janelle Monáe is the latest cast member announced for Disney’s live action remake of Lady And The Tramp. The musician and actor is set to play Peg, one of the dogs Lady meets at the pound.

Monaé joins Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux who voice Lady and The Tramp respectively. The film is set to be released on Disney’s streaming service at some point next year. The original animated feature was released back in 1955 with a sequel following in 2001.

The film is a love story between Lady – a cocker-spaniel who is set astray after her family has a child, and The Tramp – a dog who lives it ruff (lol, get it?) on the streets. Whilst more details of the live action sequel are yet to be announced, it looks set to be great considering the cast also features Thomas Mann and Kiersey Clemons.

Janelle Monáe’s groundbreaking third album Dirty Computer was released earlier this year to critical acclaim. The artist released an Emotion Picture to accompany the album release which features her Lady And The Tramp co-star Tessa Thompson as her love interest.
