JB Hi-Fi is reportedly expecting more PS5 stock this week

Still trying to buy yourself a PS5? Rumour has it that JB Hi-Fi might have the console you’re looking for.

If you’re a PlayStation fan and keen as mustard to get your hands on the new PS5, it’s a mad world out there. Especially when Aussie retailers are starting to jack up prices to eye-watering figures. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

It’s not all bad news, though. Specifically, word on the street from Press Start is that some JB Hi-Fi stores are taking pre-orders for a small shipment of consoles that are due to arrive sometime this week. The keyword here everybody is SMALL, so don’t please don’t go getting your hopes up or start yelling at your local JB Hi-Fi employee.

If you’re keen to give it a crack, your best bet is to start calling your local JB Hi-Fi stores and ask if they have an expression of interest list in the works. Some stores reportedly have upwards of hundreds of gamers on standby, while others have forgone that system altogether and will let you straight up pre-order right away.

From the sounds of it, the whole thing is a bit of a crapshoot. But if you’re desperate to play epic PS5 launch games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls then you’re going to have to embrace the hustle.

It’s also worth noting that if you head to the JB website, it explicitly states that “Due to high demand and limited stock allocations from Sony we are not taking further orders at this time.” With news of chip shortages and the global pandemic continuing to rage across the globe, you can unfortunately expect to see a lot of that for a while yet.
