Documentarian Ken Burns has recently shared his thoughts on Mark Zuckerberg during a recent interview.
As reported by the Independent, Ken Burns spoke on an interview for The New York Times, claiming that Zuckerberg doesn’t really care about anyone.
He said, “This is an enemy of the state, and I mean the United States of America.”
“He doesn’t give a shit about us, the United States. He knows he can transcend it. He can get away to any place. And so it’s just about filthy lucre, that’s it,” Burns continued.
Continuing on in the interview, Burns always expressed how much he isn’t a fan of Zuckerberg’s COO, Sheryl Sandberg.
He added, “The Nuremberg of this, is if it ever happens, which it won’t, will be pretty interesting. The way that we’ve been able to temporise and say, ‘Oh, it’s OK, we’ll just go a little bit further,’ right?”
Earlier this year many Australians also decided they aren’t huge fans of Zuckerberg either, as a result of his decision to pull all Australian news from the platform.
The decision came as a longstanding byproduct of a feud between Facebook and Google with Australian lawmakers.
Facebook’s decision to restrict publishers and people in Australia from sharing and viewing local and international news is a response to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission proposed legislation that requires Facebook and Google to negotiate with media publishers and pay them for their content.
Facebook made the decision to push back against this new law, arguing that it unfairly “penalises” a platform that has been advantageous to the media industry (to their credit, it has). Whilst arguing that their platform, at its core, is a social networking site, that merely acts as a conduit for news.
