In the latest instalment of “what fucked up thing has the KFC marketing department come up with today?”, we bring you the KFC 11 Herbs and Spices Firelog. Yep, the fast-food giant has really gone and made firewood that smells like fried chicken.

The news was tweeted from the brand earlier this morning, with a link to order your very own firelog (singular) for US$18.99. Sadly the logs are only available in the US and Canada currently, so you’ll have to travel to get your hands on one if you’re desperate. But we’re not actually sure why you would be desperate for one.

The landing page of the firelogs site very boldly states that the new firelogs have solved “the age-old dilemma, ‘How can I make this fire a hundred bajillion times better?'” Apparently all it took was putting the smell of KFC into the wood.

Whilst we’re not sure how they managed to put the smell of their food into a piece of firewood, they guarantee the logs are made from 100% recycled materials thanks to Enviro-Log who helped create the logs.

The site also points out that the logs will burn for 2-3 hours and have no shelf life so can be stored for a very long time. They also remind you not to try eat the log or stick your face in a fire to smell the log, because anyone who is dumb enough to buy one probably would do that…

This year has seen KFC really step up their merch and marketing game, with the release of a lit merch line here in Australia, and the launch of a KFC mindfulness site which allows you to meditate to the sound of frying chicken and boiling gravy.

At this point, we’re both confused and also fascinated by the marketing team at KFC HQ. We’re also really looking forward to seeing what insane ideas they’ll come up with in 2019!
